Academy Student Canvas Study

Meet Emily.

Emily came to us with an open mind and open heart, in order to allow the beginner students to feel comfortable with their first steps in Microblading. These are our dream Canvas Models. These are the experiences that will help our students feel okay with being beginners, because it is!

Skin Conditions:

Emily came to us with some pretty severe allergies and skin conditions that prompted us to require a patch test 48 hours before service. After 12 hours we were in the clear for any safety concerns and proceeded forward.

Eyebrow Goals:

Emily was completely open to our creative ideas and approach ( our sweet spot for creation) and was really open to fuller and richer brows.

Artist Heart Approach:

As courages artists and educators prioritizing skillful strategy to our students, we were very willing to move forward with our model. However, we knew that there was a still a chance we would need to stop service if she showed sign of extreme reaction. It is important to have very honest conversations in order to manage expectations and lessen any anxiety that stems from the unknown.

Critical Thinking & Intentional Strategy:

We approached Emily with our 70/30 design approach for 2 reasons.

Safety:

Because we know that she had sensitive skin, we were not going to run the risk of upsetting the brow area with too many strokes. We thought it was best to capture the brow in as few steps as possible, knowing she could always add more in her touch up.

Brow Design:

Similarly to our safety strategy, we stretched out the brow pattern to be achieved in less strokes than originally planned. The goal was to apply fewer strokes in order to enhance our technical application within the foundation of the design. As a 2 appointment procedure, this tactic allows us to increase the retention of our results and still enhance on her touch up.

Beginner Strategy:

Our students first hands on model is not about perfection, it’s about comprehension. We really want to set up the students with an experience that they can enjoy, in order to integrate the knowledge they learned prior. We support our students this way by not launching them into an advanced technique but a manageable approach of applying technical tool handling, finding safe depth, stretch and movement, all at the same time for the very first time! In our opinion, we are not interested in throwing them into too advanced patterns and techniques that they will forget the minute they are done. It’s okay to let them be beginners and apply very beginner strategy in order to set them up for safe and successful next steps.

Vanessa
